Week 4 January 22-28

January 22, 2012
We cancelled our trip to Ottawa today as we found the island yesterday. We went to the CWL 90th Anniversary Mass at 10:30 at St. Paul’s and went to the Reception at the Millennium Room in the afternoon. We took a trip to Port Hope to look for more furniture and saw nice china cabinet but very pricey. Then we went to visit Gayle and Diana in Cobourg and had supper at the DQ. 0°C   -19°C

Went to Peterborough to find a cupboard for the brick wall and found it right away at the Nostalgic Journey! We used our free coupon we won at last years Ball Tournament for lunch and went to Cosco before picking up the cupboard.
Had pizza and salad for supper. 6°C   1°C

A dull snowy day to go to work. John added a shelf to the unit we bought yesterday. Leftovers for supper. 2°C   -11°C

January 25, 2012
A busy day in the house. Steve the electrician and his helper Shawn did a lot of the electrical work in the kitchen and Brendon and Ryan fixed the dinning room floor while I was at work. We also gave the plan for the island to Brendon to show Steve the builder. The dishwasher and the microwave were delivered. Pork chops for supper.

The electricians were here today and finished the electrical work.
John's computer client came just as my computer died completely. He took it away and I probably won't get it back for 10 days. I am now working on my laptop. Gillian has model pictures on the internet. Had Chinese for supper. 0   -4

We had a lot of freezing rain overnight and Fr. Called to say don't come to work. He also cancelled dinner tonight as he is not feeling well. It has snowed most of the day. Signed the papers for the Bank loan. 1   -1

I went in to work and did the Bulletin and pay cheques. We went to 5:00 pm Mass in Norwood and then went to Jack D's 60th birthday party. 1  -6

Went to Church at 9:00 in Havelock and then had breakfast with Carole & Harry.

We went for supper at Harry and Carole’s and played Euchre after.

The beams were put in for the floor and the house appraiser from the Bank was here today.

Was an hour late for work as we had a long planning talk with Steve.

After work we went to Peterborough and bought a black dishwasher and a black microwave with charcoal exhaust for over the stove.

The electrician (another Steve) came today with Steve and they planned out how to do the wiring. I was right it should have been done before the floor was down. Now we have to postpone the waterman so the electrician can come next week. It looks like we are on hold for a few days. Soup and leftovers for supper and John went to his Lions Meeting. –3°C -11°C

Cold but the sun has come out. It snowed overnight. We went to Rama to see Frank Sinatra Jr. with a stop in Peterborough to look for units for the kitchen. We found the perfect island but price and colour were wrong. –5°C -17°C

What a busy day! We took advantage of having everyone here and they had the kitchen empty in no time. We also got lots of good ideas about how to put it back together again.

A workday and the day they tore out the floor of the kitchen. It looks like all the beams will need to be replaced.

Had panzarotti and salad for supper. 4°C 1°C

A beautiful sunny workday. No work done on the kitchen, but Steve inspected the floor and workers will be here tomorrow.

Chinese for supper. Will try and watch some DVR tonight. 3°C -2°C

A real yucky day, rain and snow. The boys worked at removing stones and getting a form ready for cement. We have ramps to get back and forth across the kitchen area.

Friday January 13, 2012

Worked till noon as usual and when we got home the cement truck came and couldn’t get up the driveway. The boys had to haul the cement in buckets.

We had our staff dinner at The Ranch with Fr. and Seward and Brenda.

Christopher called to tell us that he and Lori are engaged! -3°C -10°C

Today was a work day and a very busy one. Lots of year end things to do and check over.

Another busy work day. Got the bulletin done. Water meter was installed at the rectory. Fr. made lunch. Not much on TV tonight. 1°C -11°C

A scary day as we signed the contract with Steve the Builder to do the work in our kitchen.

Spent the rest of the day working on our cruise Scrapbook and did 3 RAK challenges. -1°C -4°C

Friday January 6, 2012

Worked till noon and then did a bit of sorting and John got boxes for removing things from the kitchen which has to be empty by Tuesday. Cooked a ham. Sharon & Christopher and families here tonight. Sleeping 12 extra people. 5°C -6°C

Such a beautiful busy day. At 1 pm we had 19 people in the house getting ready to go to my nephew Luke's wedding!

The wedding was wonderful, the dinner delicious and everyone had a great time at the dance. 7°C -1°C
