June 17 to June 23

Sunday
June 17, 2012
We had a lazy morning and finally packed up and hit the road around 11:30 am. We stopped for a couple of hours at the Morrisburg Flea Market. Joan found a wicker mirror and a wicker bench and a purse she has been looking for. I found some treasures too. You can see them here. We stopped at The Pit for mushroom burgers, fries and zucchini sticks. and again in Perth. Got home around 6:00 pm. Freshened up, plugged in the camper and went to Mass at St. Anne's in Peterborough. Afterwards we stopped at Joan's to pick up something she had borrowed and John fixed the door knob on her bathroom door. Another beautiful day but clouds coming in on our way home and it had rained here. Another early night.

Monday
June 18, 2012
Neither one of us could get motivated today. It is dull and misty with some rain but very warm and muggy. We went to the sod turning ceremony at the school and had coffee afterwards with Fr. I had a nice chat on the phone with Meghan. Downloaded all Joan's pictures from the wedding to Sunday and my own from the weekend, then organized them a bit. We had left over salad for supper.

Tuesday
June 19, 2012
Very warm and humid dull in the morning but the sun came out in the afternoon. Fr. had the air on and the house was actually cool. We went to BH for coffee and then the bank and the hardware store. I got a blue galvanized watering can and John got a wheelbarrow. I also ordered a galvanized watering can. When we got home we watered some plants and then I checked my email and got a shocking message from my cousin Pat. His brother (my cousin) Bill's wife Patsy had died suddenly this morning. We had heard at Aunt Eleanor's funeral that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Pat said she was undergoing chemo but they think she died of a heart attack. Meghan called and she needs us to pick up the leftover cross stitch supplies ASAP. We will try to make arrangements.

Wednesday
June 20, 2012
Very very very hot and humid. Thank goodness the rectory has air. Lazy day because of the heat. Finished Cross Country by James Patterson. Joan called and we will cancel camping and go to Renfrew on Friday as the Funeral Mass is Saturday at 10:00 am. Left the fan on low all night!

Thursday
June 21, 2012
Another warm day not quite as humid and a nice breeze. Sent a birthday email to Carole C. Had lunch at BH and went to the bank with my tax refund. Had a siesta with my book. Made the Noodle bowl for supper using pork. John went to his Lion's meeting.

Friday
June 22, 2012
Spent the morning packing and Joan arrived at noon. She decided that she didn't want to go. We went to Burger Hut for lunch (coffee for Joan). Took over half an hour to get to Havelock. Stopped in Marmora and got a box of electrical fixtures and 30-40 keys. Continued on to Renfrew and checked in at the Rocky Mountain Motel. When we went to look for a restaurant for supper we came upon hwy 17 and I said turn left. We immediately saw a sign for Wilderness Tours where Charlie is and it was only 25 kicks. We followed the signs and asked at the desk for Charlie. The young lady sent us to the bunk houses but there was no one there. We were just heading out when we spotted a jeep and sure enough it was Charlie. We met him at the main building and we had supper together. Afterwards he showed us one of the rapid areas and lunch spot for the tours. He is loving his job and is very enthusiastic. We returned to Renfrew and went to the wake. After waiting in line outside one of the first people we saw was Helen and Dean Moody. We did the rounds and had a good chat with Helen. Patsy was her first cousin. It was very warm and we returned to the Motel around 9. We were to far away from the main area to get the internet.

Saturday
June 23, 2012
John went to take a shower and there was no hot water. Not going back there again. A quick stop at Tim's for a duchies and then we went to the funeral Mass. It was a large modern Church and there was close to 500 people there. Afterwards we waited to get into the hall as Bill was greeting everyone as they entered. Sat with Helen and Dean and talked to various McGahern's and renewed acquaintances. Promised to visit Dean & Helen over the summer. Virginia invited us to a BBQ at her cottage but it wasn't till 6 pm and John (of course) wanted to go home. We called Meghan to see about going to Ottawa but didn't connect. We took an alternate route through Bancroft and called Pierre & Evelyn but no answer. Stopped at a garage sale and got 3 glass balls. Got home around 4 and had a nap. Leftovers for supper and early to bed.

Lori soon arrived with the girls. I did the survivor lap and then Sean & Tammy had to leave. Lori and Taylor did quite a few laps and then they left as Taylor had a soccer tournament in Montreal on Saturday. Weather has been perfect. June 3 to June 9 2012

Sunday
June 3, 2012
Grandpa cooked us a wonderful brunch and before Sharon, Meghan, TJ & Paul had to leave we got some more chores done. The kitchen fan got cleaned, the heavy unit from Grandpa's office got moved out to the east porch and now I have a potting bench. We had to empty it all over the office so we might not find Grandpa for awhile! Beds were changed and they hit the road around 12:30. John burned a lot of old papers and I worked on organizing the potting area. We had a surprise visit from Dorothy Fraser who stayed for a cup of tea. We went out and stopped at Jack & Nancy's to look at the progress on their new workshop and then had coffee with battered mushrooms and onion rings at BH. It poured rain between 4 and 5 pm. We had cold meat for supper. Found a couple of new shows starting the summer season on A & E and watched them in the evening. Full moon tonight.

A good busy day at work. Went shopping afterwards and bought more pink foliage plants and Fr. gave me more of his cuttings so I spent some time repotting things. It was a beautiful day till 4 pm and then a thunderstorm threatened but so far we have just had light rain. I set the newly potted plants out to soak up some rain water. It didn't rain all that much. Sausages in a bun for supper. Went to bed and my book at 8:30 and finished Cross by James Patterson. Turned the light out at 9:30.

Thursday
June 7, 2012
Puttered around with jewellery this morning and put clothes away. Hung out 2 more loads. Had no Kraft dinner so went to Burger Hut for lunch. John wouldn't buy more because it wasn't on sale. Male logic. Had to water the plants I put outside as we didn't get much rain. It is warm and muggy today. Another thunderstorm in the late afternoon. I brushed off the blue metal plant stand and filled it with my pots of plants. John off to the golf course for steak dinner but he made me a bacon sandwich before he left. He also hung the little shelf on the kitchen wall. Just the Varithane to go. Will check out some TV tonight.

Friday
June 8, 2012
I spent most of the morning sorting at my jewellery table. We went to lunch at BH and it was crowded. Almost everyone was Catholic! Back to the jewellery for a couple of more hours. I now have a container of projects with the beads etc. that they need to complete them. Bernie W. was here to check the hall light. He put in a temp light till he can fix it. He will come back and get rid of the knob and tube. That will be a big job but we can't sell the house till it is done. Kraft Dinner was 12cents off so we had it with hot dogs for supper! Warm nice day with the usual thunder storm in the afternoon?

Saturday
June 9, 2012
A rather dull day, a bit humid. light rain on and off. Spent most of the day at my computer. John did one coat of varatheane on the cupboards. Went to Mass at 5 and invited Harry and Carole for supper. We had spaghetti, garlic bread, red wine, coleslaw and lemon cake for dessert. Went outside to say good bye and got 2 mosquito bites in no time. I hate them!
